The Power of Self-development

I attend as many seminars, skills training's,  meetings I can.  Yes, I am a successful Network Marketer and Mentor; however, I also believe if we don't continue to grow, we die (metaphorically speaking, that is).

Every speaker I have ever heard or seen stresses the importance of spending at least 10-30 minutes per day working on yourself.  Someone recently told me he had gone through a course to 'fix himself' and then thought he was done.  His business soared and then sunk.

Why?  He realized he quit working on himself.  So my suggestion to you is that you NEVER get to the point that you think you are 'just right'.  Take that time to continue to build yourself.

If your team is flailing, encourage them to work on themselves.  If you don't have an organized master mind group, but would like to be a part of one, contact me.

Fraud Discovery Institute Retracts ALL Herbalife Accusations

Convicted felon FDI founder Barry Minkow, the Fraud Discovery Institute, has been on Herbalife's back so many times, I have lost track. He's been like a dog with a bone. Herbalife has been battling with him and his FDI people and supporters toe to toe.

News is just out that Barry has retracted his statements about Herbalife and some say it was to avoid a HEALTHY lawsuit. If you'd like to read the Press release, dated August 22, 2008, click here.

Makers of Airborne Settle FTC Charges of Deceptive Advertising

According to the report:

Airborne Health, Inc., the Bonita Springs, Florida maker of the popular Airborne Effervescent Health Formula, an effervescent tablet marketed as a cold prevention and treatment remedy, has agreed to pay up to $30 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it did not have adequate evidence to support its advertising claims.

The report goes on to say that Consumers Have Until September 15

Voodoo MLM Economics

Many people looking to join a home based business believe joining a company that is publicly traded is a GREAT idea.   Not necessarily so.  The only great thing about considering a publicly traded company is that you can, if you chose to research, review their annual reports.

Here is an excerpt from the E-book, Success in 10 Steps.  Written by my good friend and personal mentor, Michael Dlouhy.

Companies say, "We Keep 93% of Our People!"

They lie.

Truth: There was a phone company a few years back that had to publicize their retention rate, because they were publicly traded.

Take a guess. Out of every 100 people they signed up, how many were still in the business a year later?

50%? HAH!

25%? As they say in the Hertz commercial, "Not exactly!"

10%? You're getting warm ...

The public record showed 6% to 7% retention. That's not
67% ... it's 6 to 7% retention. So you build your business for a year, you buy advertising, you do 3-way calls, you go to meetings, you talk to all your friends & relatives, and you wind up recruiting 100 people! Yippee! You're almost rich.

Well, not exactly. Why? Because what you have left is 6 to 7 people out of 100 (!) still building the business.

Ooops ... wait ... that's not all you've got. You also have smashed dreams, maxed-out credit cards, and probably a LARGE bunch of people who hide when they see you coming.

Whatever you do in network marketing must be duplicatable
for the masses. Six to 7% retention is not smart business.
That brings up the next big lie.

Who controls your commissions when you join a publicly traded Network Marketing Company?  The stockholders control YOUR check.  If you think they won't cut your commissions in exchange for higher dividends... You are not considering the realities....

To learn more and further your education, feel free to download the complete E-book.  It's free and WILL SAVE YOU years of failure and frustration.

I Never Realized There Was So Much Stuff I Didn't Want!

I wanted to share with you another excerpt from the book, Success in 10 Steps, written by my personal mentor and very good friend, Michael Dlouhy:

.......... I spent many, many, many late nights cataloging it, studying it, analyzing it all, figuring out why one worked and another didn't. Or why some would work awhile and then stop.

I was amazed at how many companies talked a great product
talk, but their profit center was NOT their products!

Ashley Furniture Company Email SCAM

Here's another email scam that just hit my email account.  Now some would ask, "Jennifer, I get these things in my email all day long;  why on earth do you spend the time posting this stuff when we all get them".

The answer is simple - NOT everyone realizes these things are a scam.  I post them in hopes that someone will actually do a search on the Internet - BEFORE they fall for this.

I'm going to highlight the BIG RED FLAGS only.  But one thing to think about in this particular email is that if you look at the sent from in YOUR email - this one came from a UK account (From: )   Ashley Furniture is an American Company.  I imagine if someone were to contact them, Ashley Furniture would be glad to explain they do not need any outside payment processors.

What Do Your Past & Jimmy Hoffa Have in Common?

Excerpt from my free e-book, "Success in 10 Steps"  written by my good friend and one of my personal mentors, Michael Dlouhy.

"Yes. Sure. Absolutely. The answer is obvious.
They're both dead.
However, it's a bit of a trick question, too.
Why?
Well, I personally don't know if Jimmy Hoffa is part of the foundation of Giants Stadium in New Jersey, or if he's buried in a backyard in Detroit. But I'll tell you this: Jimmy Hoffa IS dead. I know he's dead.

You know he's dead. Jimmy Hoffa knows he's dead.
Your past, on the other hand ... well, I know it's dead. You know it's dead. Right?

Or are you like most people, reliving your business failures every day of your life? If so, you've come to the right place"

We can't relive our past failures in Network Marketing... We have to move on towards success.  Get your Free copy of Success in 10 Steps.   Learn why it is NOT YOUR FAULT you are failing to create income from home.  Click here.

How To Get Rich Without Winning the Lottery

An excerpt from How To Get Rich Without Winning the Lottery book by Keith Schreiter.

"I have a good friend who won't become wealthy. He says he'd like more money in his life, but here is how our conversations go:

Me: "You know that if you invested in real estate you would have paid off properties in ten or twenty years. Then you could quit that job you hate and go fishing."
Friend: "No way do I want to own a rental house or a couple of apartments. I don't want to deal with tenants, repairs, or collecting rent. That's not for me."
Me: "Did you ever think about getting a part-time job? You could invest the extra income in some mutual funds and let them accumulate. After awhile, your stocks could give you enough dividends so you wouldn't need to commute to that job every morning."
Friend: "No way could I work a part-time job. I need time to relax and enjoy that new big screen television I bought for the kids. Plus, I'm so burned out at the end of the day from my regular job that I can barely make it to my recliner. "And part-time jobs don't pay as much as my full-time job. Why should I work for less? And the stock market might go down and I'd lose money. Plus I can't wait years to retire. I want to retire right now."
Me: "Did you ever think of going to night school? You could get the training to get a big advancement and pay raise in your regular job. Then you'd have extra money to invest to start creating your wealth nest egg."
Friend: "Night school? Are you kidding? Once I finished high school I told myself I'd never have to study or learn again. I can't stand classrooms."
Me: "Why not start a small part-time business? You could gradually grow the business to become a full-time profession or at least you could take the part-time earnings and invest them for your retirement. Ever think about that?"
Friend: "No. That's too risky. What if I couldn't get any customers or someone didn't pay me? Then I'd have to work for nothing just to get it started. I want to be paid for every hour I work. I deserve it. Plus, I don't want to be tied down to a lease or employee problems. That's all too much stress and bother."

And so the conversation goes.
No matter what is suggested, my friend has a reason why it won't work for him.
Nothing will work for this kind of person -- not even a business where all you have to do is watch cable television all day. This type of person would say that all that television watching would be too hard on the eyes.
This type of excuse-driven person will never be wealthy. Sure, he might say he wants to be wealthy, but only if becoming wealthy was a worry-free, guaranteed proposition that required no work, no effort, no risk, no input or no investment on his part. Good luck finding that kind of deal in today's world. This book is not for my friend, or people like my friend.
This book is for doers -- people who want to become wealthy and are willing to do something about it."

If you'd like a copy of this book, just send me an email or give me a call. I'll need your complete mailing address.

MLMs in the News

From August 01, to August 07, 2008, there were several Network Marketing companies hitting the news. Among them was: Adsurfdaily (ASD), Your Travel Biz (YTB), Xocia, and ITV. Most all of this news was NOT good for the distributors who believed in the program they were in.

YTB Gets Slammed by California Attorney General

This is taken from MLMWatchdog - to read the full report - click here

5 Aug 2008 -- LOS ANGELES--California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced a lawsuit against YourTravelBiz.com for operating a "gigantic pyramid scheme" that recruited tens of thousands of members with deceptive claims that members could earn huge sums of money through its online travel agencies.

“YourTravelBiz.com operates a gigantic pyramid scheme that is immensely profitable to a few individuals on top and a complete rip-off for most everyone else,” Attorney General Brown said. “Today’s lawsuit seeks to shut down the company’s unlawful operation before more people are exploited by the scam.”

According to YTB records there were over 200,000 members in 2007 who typically pay more than $1,000 per year--$449.95 to set up an “online travel agency” with a monthly fee of $49.95. In 2007, only 38 percent of the company’s members made any travel commissions. For the minority of members who made any travel commission in 2007, the median income was $39.00--less than one month’s cost to keep the Website. There are at least 139,000 of the company’s travel Websites, all virtually identical, on the Internet.

Brown charges the company, its affiliates, and the company’s founders J. Lloyd Tomer, J. Scott Tomer, J. Kim Sorensen and Andrew Cauthen with operating an “endless chain scheme,” an unlawful pyramid in which a person pays money for the chance to receive money by recruiting new members to join the pyramid. Brown also charges the company with unfair business practices and false advertising practices including: read more here
