The Data Entry JOB Scam

Have you gotten this email?

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in the position! You've come upon something very exciting- a job with FLEXIBILITY and one that will put money in your pocket. You will not get rich by doing this, but it will supplement your income.

Here is a brief overview of what we have to offer you:

Job description:

--Work from home or any place if you have wireless internet service

--Full online training

--Pay based on per-completion basis

--Work your own hours/days, however we recommend you dedicating at least 5 hours per day to get results.

Requirements:

--You be at least 18 years or older

--You have a high school diploma

--you have a computer with internet access

--Valid email account

--Willingness to learn and follow written instructions

Details:

We are seeking only self motivated people with the desire to work with online advertising (there is noting done in poor taste). No experience is necessary. You can choose to work full or part time and the hours are set by you. You will be processing responses from advertisements; this will be explained to you in the training materials. Everything is sent to you via email.

There is no contract to sign, no personal information needed, no banking information needed and no solicitation. The amount of work you choose to do is entirely up to you. As with any job, you must be able to respond to advertisements in a timely manner.

Compensation:

You will be paid $10.00 to $20.00 for each application you process. For example, if you process 35 in a week, you'll make $350.00 to $700 weekly. The average person makes around $550.00 weekly. Again, the amount of money you earn is dependent upon the amount of time you invest processing the ads.

Training:

The training materials you receive will give you step-by-step instructions on how to get started. When you receive your training materials, you may begin working the same day, once you read through the materials . There are no special requirements for this position.

Payment for work completed:

You will receive your payments through paypal for each application you process. If you do not have a paypal account, please sign up for one, at no cost by visiting paypal. The sign up process is very secure and simple and it takes about a few minutes to complete, we recommend the premier account, (this is still free). Paypal is the easiest and only way to get paid online with you having to be charged a monthly fee to receive any payments. We do not issue paper checks, as this work is internet based.

So, if this is something you feel will work for you, to get started please email me back, and I will send you the training materials. There is a ONE TIME ONLY non-refundable fee of $10.00 to cover the cost and processing of the training materials which can be paid from your paypal account, once you activate it. This payment can be made to a yahoo email account. This money is easily made back by processing ONE ad response. This also shows that you are sincere about the job. This is the ONLY fee you will incur for this job. After receiving the material fee, I will send you the materials to your email address within 24 hours, but usually much sooner.

If you are new to seeking employment on the internet to do work from home positions, there are a lot of legitimate companies that ask for processing fees for training materials. I will refer you to Google click on careers (on-line) or post ads for google, they charge a $5.95 fee to ship, or email their starter kits. This is a multi-billion dollar company. This information has been added to this over view for those individuals, who are new to this virtual industry. You want the convience of a decent position, working from home, we provide the materials and knowledge to do that. We do not promise you thousands of dollars. The amount you make is dependent upon your dedication.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

Thank you again,
xxxxx

Here is the deal -

At first glance this sounds reasonable and professional, doesn't it? But let's look a little deeper. Under job description: Pay based on per completion basis (won't even go into the complete online training part because that will come out in a minute) Under requirements: Must have a valid email address. Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Details: .... online advertising... you will process responses from advertisements, details to be explained in the training material.Everything will be sent via email.

Compensation: You will be paid $10-$20 per each application processed and then they give an example if you process 35 per week, you will earn $350-$700.

Further it states that you will be charged a fee for processing the information being sent to you. Payment is to be sent to someone's paypal account and the processing fee is non-refundable. The part I like the best is the defense that even Google requires a processing fee with the assumption that you will think, oh, ok, if google does it then this must be legit.

So, you jump out and submit your payment and await your electronically submitted training materials. What do you get... yep, a copy of the ad you responded to, a copy of the response to your response and a list of sites to go post this "JOB" offering and suck someone else out of their money. If you felt ripped off after you spent your money and got scammed, is this really something you could in good faith do to some other unsuspecting soul?

This has been around a LONG time. Honestly, I fell for it about 5 years ago. Three of the biggest clues that it was not a legit offering are pretty simple to reason out. #1 what legit business sends you an email through yahoo, hotmail or any other free service. Don't most legit companies have at least a one page web presence? If they've got even a single web presence, they got email accounts with that web... why use a free email service? #2 Why are you paying someone at their private paypal account? #3 Why is there no company name? There's not even a phone number. WHY? Well, if I just ripped you off, would I want you calling me? Shoot no... I can hide behind some email address just as easily as anyone else.

Please don't get caught up in this scam. Some people don't have any morals or ethics. I hope you do though and I hope you care more about others than the people out there propogating this as legit. It may be within the law, but morally??????? I couldn't do it to someone else.

Another email Job scam

Just got this one today - and it's still the same old story - we send you bogus checks - you cash them, send us the majority, you spend your take, the check bounces any where from 3 weeks to months later - then the Bank and possibly FBI comes knocking on your door and charges you with money laundering.

I'll never catch them all, but hope that by posting some of them, it will prevent others from falling for this "JUNK". First thing - I have a business - why would I inquire about a JOB.... Second thing - why would a legit company use a yahoo email address for responding to? Sad part about it is that there is actually a real company out there with the name they are using... of course, what did I do? I sent the REAL company a copy of the email....Also, please note ... I did NOT correct their spelling or typo's .... what professional would send an email without at least running spell check?

Don't get scammed

I am a mentor and own my own home based business.

Many people are searching for ways to escape the Corporate world. Many people have a dream to be financially independent. It's a great dream and can be a reality. However, at every turn, we are faced with work at home opportunities designed only to fleece us of our money. Scammers prey on those who don't know any better or get caught up in the concept of BIG money for little effort.

I don't believe in lying, deceiving, scamming and don't think much of those who do. So from time to time as I come across blatant scams, I'll be posting them here. WHY? Because sometimes people do a bit of research BEFORE they jump into something. My hope is that if I post things I come across, I might be able to save someone else a lot of failure, frustration and scamming...
